Fitting
Check the cut-out size, wall or roof thickness and power supply in the specification against your vehicle before you order. Gas appliances must be fitted by a qualified gas engineer, and anything wired into 230V mains should be signed off by a qualified electrician.

Overview
Waeco WAC2600i Inverter Roof Air Conditioner
2,600W of cooling and a 2,300W heat pump in one roof unit, with an inverter compressor that slows down instead of cycling on and off. The Waeco to choose if you want year-round climate control on hook-up for a vehicle up to 8m.
- 2,600W cooling and 2,300W heating
- Inverter compressor: holds temperature at lower speed, so it runs more quietly overnight
- 7A current draw, 7A fuse
- Fits a 400 × 400mm roof cut-out
- Two-way airflow to the front and rear, set from the remote
- Gentle start-up for campsites with low fuse protection
Why the inverter matters
A conventional air conditioner runs its compressor flat out, then stops, then starts again. The WAC2600i varies compressor speed to match the load, which means fewer start-up surges, less noise once the cabin is cool and lower average consumption. Waeco credit the inverter compressor and heat pump with reducing power consumption.
Powering it
At 7A the unit draws about 1,600W on 230V, more than a 6A pitch supplies, although the variable-speed compressor slows down once the cabin is at temperature. On 10A and 16A hook-ups it has room to run with other loads. From batteries it is a heavy consumer, so size any off-grid use carefully in the Roam Wired calculator.
What fitting involves
The 31.5kg roof unit sits over a standard 400 × 400mm opening and needs a ceiling air distribution box, sold separately by Waeco; the package with the flat WAC ADBL box above covers it. Have the 230V supply installed or checked by a qualified electrician. For cooling only, the WAC2600 gives the same 2,600W for less.
