Overview
Whale Expanse 8L Gas & Electric Water Heater
Eight litres of hot water on gas, on hook-up, or on both at once for the fastest heat-up. The Expanse comes in two versions: an underfloor model that frees up cupboard space, and an onboard model for fitting inside a locker.
- Gas, electric or combined: the element runs at 750W, which suits a limited hook-up supply, or 1,500W for speed
- 0.48A at 12V while running and 0.03A on standby
- Winter protection mode that you switch on to guard against frost
- External gas connections, so no extra cut-outs
- Polystyrene insulation to keep water hot for longer, and no removable flue cover to maintain
Underfloor or onboard?
The underfloor version (180mm tall) mounts beneath the vehicle and flues downwards, so it takes up no interior space. The onboard version (229mm tall, 5.4kg) sits inside a cupboard or locker. Both are 262mm wide and 522mm long.
Powering it
On gas the heater uses 0.48A from the leisure battery, which barely registers on a 100Ah lithium bank. The electric element needs 230V: 750W on the low setting or 1,500W on high. What's in the kit
The 8-litre heater, a control panel with 3.5m cable, a 1.25m flue, three flue brackets and an end flue bracket. It connects to your LPG supply and water system, so have it fitted by a qualified installer.
