Overview
Clesana C1 Waterless Toilet
A toilet with no flush water, no chemicals and no cassette to carry to a disposal point. After each use the Clesana C1 seals the waste in a barrier-film liner using heat and pressure, and you take the sealed package out.
- No water or chemicals: nothing to fill, dose or empty
- No black-water tank, and nothing to winterise
- Also takes nappies and hygiene products, according to Clesana
- Stainless steel and ABS body, rated to 150kg
- Designed and made in Switzerland
Round base or L-adapter?
The L-adapter version is for replacing an existing cassette toilet, and suits many washrooms built around the Thetford C220 and C260. The round base version is for free placement in the room and for less standard retrofits. The seat height is 478mm either way.
Powering it
The C1 runs on 12V and can pull up to 22A (265W) during its sealing cycle, which takes about a minute, so wire it with a suitably rated cable and fuse. Energy use is tiny: about 2.25Wh a use, so ten uses a day come to roughly 2Ah at 12V, and standby is 0.28W. See what that adds to your daily load in the Roam Wired calculator, or look at our power stations.
Running it
You'll need Clesana C1 foil liner cartridges. Clesana designs the sealed packages to go in general waste; check local rules where you travel. The C1 works between 5 and 40°C, and weighs 13.5kg with the round base or 13.8kg with the L-adapter. Ask us if you're not sure which base fits your washroom.
