Privacy policy

Who is responsible for your information

BUCK WILD LTD, trading as Roam Wired, operates shop.roamwired.com and is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Email jack@roamwired.com with privacy questions or requests. Our business correspondence address is Scriven House, Sutton Road, Wigginton, York, England, YO32 2RB, United Kingdom.

This policy covers shopping with Roam Wired and information transferred into the shop from linked Roam Wired planning tools, including My Van. Other features on roamwired.com, such as builder enquiries or vehicle listings, are also explained in that website's privacy notice at https://roamwired.com/privacy.

This notice explains our practices. Visiting the store or accepting purchase terms does not, by itself, give consent to optional marketing, analytics or advertising.

Information we collect and where it comes from

  • Contact and delivery details: your name, email, telephone number where provided, billing and delivery addresses.
  • Orders and payments: products purchased, order values, delivery status, payment confirmations, refunds and relevant payment-provider references. Card information is processed by Shopify and your payment provider; do not send full card details to us by email.
  • Accounts and saved plans: account identifiers, preferences, selected products, saved My Van builds, appliance requirements and calculator information you choose to transfer or associate with your account.
  • Customer support: your enquiries, correspondence, proof of purchase and, where needed for a return or warranty claim, product serial numbers and photographs of goods or packaging.
  • Technical and usage information: IP address, device and browser information, pages and products viewed, basket activity, referral information, and cookie or similar identifiers where relevant technologies are used lawfully.
  • Marketing choices: subscription preferences, consent records, unsubscribe requests and, where enabled and lawful, interactions with messages.

We obtain this information directly from you, from your use of our store and connected tools, and from Shopify, payment providers, fulfilment suppliers and couriers involved in your order. Suppliers and carriers may give us tracking, delivery and claim-assessment updates. Avoid adding sensitive personal information to a plan, build name or product photograph.

Why we use information and our lawful bases

Purpose Lawful basis
Take and fulfil orders, arrange delivery, process returns and provide account features you request Performance of a contract, or steps you request before entering one
Respond to pre-purchase enquiries and customer support requests Contract where connected to a purchase; otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries
Meet tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal requirements Legal obligation
Protect the store, investigate payment abuse, manage disputes and improve basic service reliability Legitimate interests in secure trading, preventing fraud and operating an effective business, balanced against your rights
Send optional newsletters, product recommendations and promotional reminders Consent, or a permitted existing-customer soft opt-in only where all legal conditions are met
Use optional analytics, advertising or related profiling that requires consent Consent

You need to supply the information reasonably required for payment, delivery and an order; without it we may be unable to complete your purchase. Optional marketing is not a condition of purchasing. If a linked tool offers an optional newsletter or promotional benefit, the signup explanation states what you are agreeing to.

Suppliers and other recipients

We share information needed to provide your requested service with:

  • Shopify: our store, checkout, customer accounts, order management and related platform services.
  • Payment providers: payment processing, payment checks, refunds and disputes, according to the checkout method chosen.
  • BLUETTI and Miriad Quest Leisure (MQL): direct delivery, stock and order fulfilment, returns, technical assessment and warranty administration for their respective products. This may include your name, delivery address, email, telephone number, order contents and relevant claim details. MQL requires delivery contact details for its dropship service.
  • Manufacturers and couriers: delivery, product assessment, collection and warranty work where necessary for your order or claim.
  • Klaviyo: email subscriptions and marketing preferences, relevant customer and order information, and permitted product, basket or saved-build activity used to deliver relevant messages.
  • Supabase, Vercel and Resend: where linked Roam Wired planning features are used, account and plan storage, hosting and delivery of requested plan or service emails.
  • Google Analytics: usage measurement where deployed and your applicable consent permits it.
  • Professional advisers and authorities: where needed for accounting, advice, legal obligations or establishing and defending legal claims.

We limit disclosures to information appropriate to the purpose. Suppliers receive details to deliver goods or handle support, rather than permission to add you to unrelated marketing lists. We do not sell customer mailing lists. If the business is transferred, relevant information may be shared as necessary for a lawful transfer, subject to applicable protections and notices.

Some providers process information on our instructions. Others, including payment providers, couriers or manufacturers for certain purposes, may have their own legal responsibilities and privacy notices.

Shopify's own services

Shopify processes information to provide our store. When you use Shopify services such as Shop or Shop Pay, or where enabled Shopify services process information for Shopify's own purposes, Shopify is separately responsible for that processing as described in its Consumer Privacy Policy. You can also use Shopify's privacy portal for information and requests relating to Shopify's own processing.

Cookies, tracking and browser storage

The store and linked tools use cookies or similar storage for functions such as the basket, checkout, security, account access, saved plans and remembering privacy choices. Technologies genuinely necessary for a service you request may operate without optional cookie consent.

Optional analytics and advertising technologies are subject to the consent required by applicable law. You can accept or reject optional purposes through the privacy controls presented on the relevant site and change your selection through those controls. Contact us if you cannot find them. Details of the active technologies, providers, purposes and durations should be available with the relevant cookie information.

Klaviyo and other permitted tools may help us recognise product interests or saved builds and make messages more relevant. Marketing tracking and promotional reminders operate only where the relevant permissions or other lawful requirements are satisfied. Blocking cookies in your browser may affect some store functions.

Marketing and service messages

Where you subscribe, we may send build advice, product recommendations, offers or reminders relevant to your interests. Where legally permitted, we may market similar products to existing customers using the soft opt-in, provided you had a clear chance to refuse when your details were collected and in every message.

Unsubscribe using the link in a promotional email or contact jack@roamwired.com. We will stop direct marketing, including related profiling, when you object. Unsubscribing does not stop messages needed to fulfil an order, arrange a return or send a plan you specifically requested. Requesting a plan is not blanket permission for unrelated marketing.

Saved plans and external links

A plan may be stored in your browser or our systems when you save it, request a diagram or transfer it into My Van. Some plan links work as private sharing links: anyone you give the link to may be able to view the plan. Keep the link private if you do not want others to access it.

External retailers, including those reached through affiliate links, operate their own websites and privacy practices. Their notices explain information collected on those sites. Do not assume your Roam Wired cookie or marketing choices apply to another retailer.

International processing

Some service providers operate or allow authorised support access outside the UK, including in Europe, North America and other countries identified in their processing information. Where a restricted transfer requires safeguards, we use an applicable UK adequacy arrangement or appropriate contractual protection, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses, with any additional measures required.

Contact jack@roamwired.com for information about safeguards relevant to your data or to request a copy of the applicable safeguards, subject to necessary redactions.

How long we retain information

We retain information only while needed for its purpose, considering legal requirements, warranty administration and applicable claim periods:

  • Order, tax and accounting records: for applicable legal recordkeeping periods and as needed for warranty obligations or establishing and defending claims.
  • Support and return records: while the issue remains open and for any justified follow-up, warranty or dispute period.
  • Accounts and saved builds: while you use the service or need the saved information; on a deletion request, records are removed unless a specific legal or contractual reason requires retention.
  • Marketing records: while the subscription remains active and justified; after an unsubscribe, a minimal suppression record and necessary consent evidence may be kept to respect your choice and demonstrate compliance.
  • Technical and analytics records: for the service, security or reporting period appropriate to the purpose, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Cookie and browser-storage durations depend on the relevant technology.

We review whether records remain necessary. Closing an account does not require us to delete information that must be retained for a legal obligation or a valid claim.

Your rights and complaints

Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your information, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You can always object to direct marketing and associated profiling.

Contact jack@roamwired.com. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond without undue delay and within one month, subject to lawful extensions or other permitted timing adjustments; we will explain any applicable adjustment.

We use relevant product interests and plan information to personalise recommendations. If a payment or fraud system makes an automated decision affecting your order, contact us to request an explanation and human review, and to challenge it; any additional rights under applicable law remain available.

You can complain to us and to the UK Information Commissioner's Office through ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to complain to us first.

Security, children and changes

We use appropriate measures to protect information and restrict access to those who need it. No online system is entirely risk-free. Please keep account access and private plan links secure.

The store is intended for adult customers. If you believe a child has supplied personal information that should not be held, contact us so we can assess and address it.

We may update this notice when our practices or legal requirements change. We will update the date and provide any additional notice or consent request required. A revised notice does not turn continued browsing into consent for a new purpose.
