Compressor fridges that open as a drawer, for the spaces a cabinet fridge cannot use: under a bed, beneath a seat, or lengthways along a van kitchen.
Why choose a drawer
Cold air stays in a drawer when it opens rather than spilling out, everything is visible from above, and a self-locking drawer stays shut on rough roads. Drawers also suit layouts where there is no room for a door to swing.
Two very different drawers
- Dometic CoolMatic CD30: 30 litres in a drawer only 250mm high. Its cooling unit detaches and mounts up to 1.5m away, so the drawer fits under a rock and roll bed or a seat while the compressor goes where there is ventilation.
- Thetford T2095E: 90 litres with a 9L freezer, designed to sit lengthways in a campervan kitchen block. At 400mm wide it gives back aisle space and leaves room for a hob or sink on top, using 26.6Ah a day.
Power and fitting
Both run from the leisure battery, so they count toward your daily load. Size the cable and fuse for the run from the battery in the Roam Wired calculator. For a cabinet fridge instead, browse all campervan fridges.
