How buying this works

Roam Wired does not stock this item. The button above hands you over to the seller's own shop, where you place the order, pay and arrange delivery directly with them. Nothing is added to a Roam Wired basket, and we never see your payment details.

We list it because it is the part our calculator would specify for a build like yours, not because we make the most on it. How we make money

Delivery and returns

Delivery cost, delivery time and the returns window are set by the seller, not by us, and Roam Wired's own £10 / free-over-£250 UK delivery does not apply here. Check their delivery and returns terms on their product page before you order.

Your consumer rights, including the 14-day right to cancel a distance sale, are against the seller who took your order.

Warranty and support

The manufacturer's warranty is handled by the seller you buy from. If something fails, raise it with them and quote their order number — we cannot open a claim on your behalf.

Overview

RENOGY 40A DC-DC Battery Charger with MPPT

40A of alternator charging plus an MPPT solar input, in a 1.2kg case. The lightest and most compact way to get both charge sources into one unit — useful when the electrical cupboard is already full.

  • 40A maximum output, 584W
  • MPPT solar input, 10–30V DC
  • Euro 6 smart alternators, 12–16V input; traditional 13.2–16V
  • 10mA idle consumption
  • 1.2kg, 195 × 149 × 48mm
  • Heat-sink cooled, IP31

Check your panel voltage

The solar input accepts 10–30V DC. That comfortably covers one or two 12V nominal panels in parallel, but a pair of panels in series will exceed it on a cold, bright morning when open-circuit voltage peaks. If you are planning a series string, either wire in parallel instead or choose a controller with a higher input ceiling.

Very low idle draw

10mA at idle is genuinely low — about a quarter of an amp-hour a day. For a van that sits for weeks between trips, that matters more than most spec-sheet numbers, because parasitic drain is what flattens banks over winter.

Before you order

IP31 and an operating range of −20°C to 45°C mean this belongs inside the habitation space, not underfloor or in a wet locker. Fuses are specified at 60A input and 50A output.
