Fitting
Check the cut-out size, wall or roof thickness and power supply in the specification against your vehicle before you order. Gas appliances must be fitted by a qualified gas engineer, and anything wired into 230V mains should be signed off by a qualified electrician.

Overview
Dometic FreshWell FWX4 3000 Under-Bench Air Conditioner
2,000W of cooling and up to 2,500W of heating from a unit that lives under a seat, not on the roof. The FreshWell FWX4 is Dometic's space-saving option for motorhomes and caravans up to 8m where the roof is already taken, or where you would rather keep the vehicle's height and profile unchanged.
- Fits inside a seat or bench locker: 400mm wide, 286mm high, 628mm deep
- 2,000W cooling and up to 2,500W heating
- 7.2A maximum when cooling, 10A circuit protection
- Remote control with a separate room temperature sensor for more even regulation
- Works from −5°C to 52°C outside
- Supplied with remote, temperature sensor, IR receiver and installation kit
Why under-bench
A roof unit adds height, weight up top and another hole in the roof. The FreshWell sits low in a storage compartment, which keeps the centre of gravity down and leaves the roof free for a rooflight, solar or a dish. The trade-off is the locker space it occupies, and the ducting needed to carry air to the living area.
Powering it
At 7.2A when cooling it draws around 1,650W from a 230V supply, beyond a 6A hook-up, so plan for a 10A or 16A pitch. It is a hook-up appliance rather than something to run from leisure batteries. The Roam Wired calculator will show how it sits alongside your other loads.
Before you order
Check the internal dimensions of the bench you plan to use, and how you will route air to the outlets. Send us your layout and we'll check it. Have the 230V circuit installed or checked by a qualified electrician.
