Fitting
Check the cut-out size, wall or roof thickness and power supply in the specification against your vehicle before you order. Gas appliances must be fitted by a qualified gas engineer, and anything wired into 230V mains should be signed off by a qualified electrician.

Overview
Dometic FreshJet FJZ4 1500 Roof Air Conditioner
1,500W of cooling for smaller vans at just 3.1A, from a black roof unit that fits a standard 400 × 400mm opening. Dometic's compact FreshJet, sized for campervans of around 5m with insulated walls.
- 1,500W cooling, cooling only
- 3.1A running current, 4A fuse
- 400 × 400mm roof cut-out, roofs 25–60mm thick
- Integrated rubber gasket: no separate mounting frame needed
- Black housing made from recycled plastic
- Dehumidifies and filters dust as it cools
Powering it
3.1A on 230V is about 710W, the lightest load of any roof unit we list, so it runs comfortably on a 6A hook-up with room left for charging and lighting. Dometic designed it to start reliably on weak campsite fuses. On batteries it still needs a substantial lithium bank and inverter, so use the Roam Wired calculator before planning off-grid use.
The air distribution box
Inside the vehicle the FJZ4 needs an air distribution box. Dometic's manual-control box is made to pair with this exact unit (part 9630000069): two turning knobs set temperature and fan speed, air goes front and back, and at 59mm deep it keeps headroom. Choose the package above to get both together.
Fitting
The 25.2kg unit sits over a 400 × 400mm opening, often in place of an existing rooflight, and is E-marked to the automotive EMC directive. Check that your roof is between 25 and 60mm thick, and have the 230V supply signed off by a qualified electrician. For a larger vehicle, the FreshJet FJZ4 2200 adds heating and 700W more cooling.
