How buying this works
Roam Wired does not stock this item. The button above hands you over to the seller's own shop, where you place the order, pay and arrange delivery directly with them. Nothing is added to a Roam Wired basket, and we never see your payment details.
We list it because it is the part our calculator would specify for a build like yours, not because we make the most on it. How we make money
Delivery and returns
Delivery cost, delivery time and the returns window are set by the seller, not by us, and Roam Wired's own £10 / free-over-£250 UK delivery does not apply here. Check their delivery and returns terms on their product page before you order.
Your consumer rights, including the 14-day right to cancel a distance sale, are against the seller who took your order.
Warranty and support
The manufacturer's warranty is handled by the seller you buy from. If something fails, raise it with them and quote their order number — we cannot open a claim on your behalf.

Overview
Rover Li 40 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller
40A MPPT, 100V input, 520W of panel at 12V. The step up from the 30A Rover, for a roof that has outgrown 400W. Renogy also list this page in 20A, 30A and 60A — the figures below are the 40A.
- 40A rated charge current
- 15–100V DC solar input range
- 520W at 12V, 1,040W at 24V
- 12V/24V auto-detect for non-lithium
- Charges over-discharged lithium packs
- IP32, 238 × 172 × 77mm, 2.0kg, 3-year warranty
Note the 15V lower limit
The input range starts at 15V, not zero. A single 12V nominal panel on an overcast winter afternoon can sit below that, at which point the controller simply will not start tracking. It is not a fault, and it is another argument for wiring two panels in series rather than parallel on a UK roof — the string voltage stays above the threshold for more of the day.
Same case as the 30A
Identical 238 × 172 × 77mm footprint and 2.0kg weight, so if you are choosing between them the mounting space is not a factor — only the array size and the price. Worth noting the 40A carries a three-year warranty against the 30A's two.
Before you order
IP32, so a dry interior cupboard. Terminals take 8AWG (10mm²), which is the practical limit — for a 40A controller over a long run, that is worth checking against your volt drop calculation before you commit.
