How buying this works

Roam Wired does not stock this item. The button above hands you over to the seller's own shop, where you place the order, pay and arrange delivery directly with them. Nothing is added to a Roam Wired basket, and we never see your payment details.

We list it because it is the part our calculator would specify for a build like yours, not because we make the most on it. How we make money

Delivery and returns

Delivery cost, delivery time and the returns window are set by the seller, not by us, and Roam Wired's own £10 / free-over-£250 UK delivery does not apply here. Check their delivery and returns terms on their product page before you order.

Your consumer rights, including the 14-day right to cancel a distance sale, are against the seller who took your order.

Warranty and support

The manufacturer's warranty is handled by the seller you buy from. If something fails, raise it with them and quote their order number — we cannot open a claim on your behalf.

Overview

Rover Li 30 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller

30A MPPT, 95V input, 400W of panel at 12V. The Rover that suits most van conversions — enough headroom for a realistic roof without paying for current a 12V system cannot use.

  • 30A rated charge current
  • 95V DC maximum PV input
  • 400W at 12V, 800W at 24V
  • 12V/24V auto-detect for non-lithium
  • Charges over-discharged lithium packs
  • IP32, 238 × 172 × 77mm, 2.0kg

400W is the sweet spot for a van roof

Two 200W panels, or four 100W, is about what fits on a medium wheelbase van once you have allowed for a vent and a fan. That is exactly what this controller is sized for, which is why it ends up in more conversions than any other unit in the range. If your roof is bigger than that, go to the 40A or 60A rather than clipping output all summer.

Series or parallel

95V of input headroom means two 12V nominal panels in series is comfortable, even allowing for the voltage rise on a cold morning. Series keeps the current down so the cable from the roof can be thinner; parallel copes better with partial shading. On a van roof that gets shaded by a vent or an aerial, parallel usually wins.

Before you order

IP32 — dry cupboard only. Terminals take up to 8AWG (10mm²). Add the BT-1 Bluetooth module if you want to see yield on your phone; without it you are reading the controller's own display.
