How buying this works

Roam Wired does not stock this item. The button above hands you over to the seller's own shop, where you place the order, pay and arrange delivery directly with them. Nothing is added to a Roam Wired basket, and we never see your payment details.

We list it because it is the part our calculator would specify for a build like yours, not because we make the most on it. How we make money

Delivery and returns

Delivery cost, delivery time and the returns window are set by the seller, not by us, and Roam Wired's own £10 / free-over-£250 UK delivery does not apply here. Check their delivery and returns terms on their product page before you order.

Your consumer rights, including the 14-day right to cancel a distance sale, are against the seller who took your order.

Warranty and support

The manufacturer's warranty is handled by the seller you buy from. If something fails, raise it with them and quote their order number — we cannot open a claim on your behalf.

Overview

12V 50A DC-DC On-Board Battery Charger with MPPT

50A of alternator charging plus an MPPT solar controller, 660W total. The version of the dual-input charger to buy if your bank is 200Ah or larger, or if you want a day's driving to genuinely refill it rather than top it up.

  • 50A maximum output, 660W
  • Dual input, alternator and built-in MPPT solar
  • Euro 6 smart alternators, 12–16V input; traditional 13.2–16V
  • 94% charging efficiency
  • RS485, Bluetooth module available
  • 1.86kg, 244 × 146 × 96mm, −35°C to 65°C

50A changes the arithmetic

At 50A you are putting roughly 600Wh into the bank per hour of driving. For a full-time build with a 300Ah pack that is the difference between arriving somewhere with a half-charged battery and arriving full. It is also the point where the alternator becomes a serious winter charging source rather than a supplement to solar.

Mind the alternator and the cable

50A at the output is a real load on the vehicle side, so confirm your alternator has the headroom, particularly on smaller vans. Fusing is specified at 75–100A on both input and output, and terminals take 8AWG to 4AWG — use the heavier end for a long run from the cab to a rear locker.

Before you order

Same footprint as the 30A but 96mm deep rather than 77mm, so check clearance if you are mounting it in a shallow space. It wants air around it: at 50A this unit makes real heat, and a sealed cupboard will make it derate.
