Extra capacity that the host unit manages, so nothing about an existing install has to change. Plug it in and the system simply reports a larger battery.

When an expansion battery is the right answer

When you sit still. Capacity buys you days without input, which matters if you park up for a week, work from one spot, or spend December somewhere with no hookup and no sun.

When it is not

If you drive even once a week, an alternator charger usually solves the same problem for less money and far less weight. A 1,200W DC-DC charger costs £549 and replaces a full day of use in forty five minutes of driving, every time you drive, forever. A second battery costs £1,399, adds substantial mass, and only helps you sit still for longer.

Buy the battery for static capability. Buy the charger for range.

Check compatibility first

Expansion packs are not universal. The B300K2 pairs with the Apex 300. The B80P expands the AC60 and AC60P, and runs in power bank mode with several smaller units. Neither works with the other's host.

Weigh the van

A 2,764.8Wh pack is not a small object. Confirm your remaining payload before adding one, particularly on a 3.5 tonne conversion that is already carrying water, a heater and a fit out.
